Day 1:
▲ Make a general summary statement/paraphrase of what you think this chapter is about.
Day 2:
↑ What does this teach me about God?
Day 3:
↓ What does this teach me about man/humanity?
Day 4:
† What does this teach me about Christ (or how does this point me to Christ?
Day 5:
✓How can I apply this to my life?
Questions to consider for application:
From “Living by the Book”
Is there an example for me to follow?
Is there a sin to avoid?
Is there a promise to claim?
Is there a prayer to repeat?
Is there a command to obey?
Is there a condition to meet?
Is there a verse to memorize?
Is there an error to mark and avoid?
Is there a challenge to face?
As you consider these questions, ask the Holy Spirit to highlight which is most relevant for you at this particular moment in your life.
Day 6/7:
Enhance your study: Use the extra day to check cross-references, look up any word definitions you may want to understand better (Bible Hub is great for this), and check study notes, Bible dictionaries, or commentaries to see how your interpretation compares to what others have said— or find an interesting fact to share!
→ Challenge:
Continue memorizing Ephesians 3:14-21
Accountability Questions:
Have I procrastinated on important things in my daily life and spiritual walk that should not be put off?
How did I practice praise this week?
Options to Go Deeper:
At the Bottom of It All | Desiring God (a short article on Eph. 1:5)
God’s Grand Blueprint for Your Life | Desiring God (a short article based on Eph. 1:8-9)
Spoken Gospel Devotional: Ephesians 1 (Read or watch)
One Hour One Book—The Prison Epistles: Ephesians, Pt. 1 (This is different from the Ephesians overview from the last session, similar, but deeper)
Prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We thank you so much for the spiritual blessings and inheritance you have given us through Christ! As Paul prayed, so we pray for a deeper understanding of your will and the wisdom to live according to your purpose. Please give us the strength to forgive others as we have been forgiven, and to promote healing and unity in the body of Christ. We pray that we would live by the power of your Holy Spirit, reflecting our identity in Christ, and glorifying you in everything we say, think, and do.
In the name of Jesus, “the one who fills all things in every way,”
Amen.
Blessings 🤍
